As an ex kitchen fitter and coming from a family of tradesmen I can without a shadow of doubt in my mind tell you that Makita is the brand you want.
There are better drills but none give you a better bang for your buck.
If you can't afford Makita then Ryobi is your next best option. They're not as erganomic or hardwearing but they'll do the job and are cheap as chips.
The reason you see a lot of contractors using De Walt is mainly because the reps do good deals for bulk buying.
If you're drilling into masonry a corded SDS will be 100% better than any battery operated drill.
