Hi all

Im a watercooling noob, but Im well aware that most custom loops would knock the socks off the kits that you can buy.

Basically I want someone to spec me a custom kit for cooling my new opty 170. Im looking for the loop to do the following:
Cool an overclocked AMD Opteron 170
Cool via chipset
Cool nvidia 6800 ultra
Have at least a 2x120mm radiator, possibly with the ability to add another later.

Budget for the loop is £200

The other option I have been considering is the Swiftech H20-220 Apex "Ultra" Watercooling Kit, does this perform well? Is the custom loop a better idea?

Cheers

Hi there,

I have done a few searches actually, there seem to be some high opinions of the kit, which was my reason for choosing it, but I thought that perhaps some of the gurus on here could squeeze that extra bit of performance out of a custom loop.

Is this not the case?

Cheers

There's always something better but the question is whether the effort in finding it is worth it for the performance difference. Although the Apex Ultra could possibly be improved upon none of its components is exactly weak.

Wouldn't bother with chipset personally, will make no difference and just add un-needed restriction to the loop.

ThermoChill PA120.3 £55
7/16" ID Masterkleer PVC Tubing X4 £4
AquaXtreme 50Z-DC12 Inline Pump £55
AquaXtreme MP-05 SP Limited Edition CPU Water Block (delrin) £44
Maze 4 GPU £35
Total: £193, add barbs / PTFE / T-piece / additives / worm clamps should be just in £200, and will = Yummy :)

I agree with Mike. But if you HAVE to have the best then I would change out the rad for a Thermochill PA120.2/3, Storm rev 2 and add a Maze 4 or Silverprop Fusion. The difference in performance I guess would be negligable.
