As said above really.

Been playing guitar for near on 7 years now and I've been doing a bit of recording recently. Things like Addictive Drums and Ezdrummer have really helped out when it comes to doing demos of stuff for the band, but everything I've done so far lacks a bass line.

So hopefully this is where you guys come in. I'm looking for a decent cheap bass. It'll never be gigged, just used for recording at home (probably through guitar rig).

Primarily playing punk music here but I'd like something versatile for the more sorta acoustic, ballad-y and soft rock stuff I've been messing around with recently.

I've heard the Yamaha's are good too, but not sure what the prices are on them. I use a Johnson which looks like a musicman stingray rip-off. Sounds great, but weighs an absolute ton! I think I only paid £120 for it 2nd hand. I was told not to put a bass through a guitar amp though as it can damage it, don't know if that's true or not but why risk it?

Better guitar amps can handle it well enough, sounds like he has decent enough equipment if hes gonna be recording. Plus a decent bass amp is v expensive, the cheap amps are pretty dire to be honest.

Cause I'm going into guitar rig it means I don't need to have any amp at all. Just direct into the hardware controller for the software and record through that. I woundn't chance plugging a bass into my guitar amp.

£250ish I might strech too. But I've had bad experiences with Squiers in the past...

Thanks for the recs though! Anymore? I'm gonna get playing some on Saturday.

No you dont need anymore recommendations. The Ibanez is too badass :D

^^ This. It, like most Ibanez guitars punches well above its weight / value.
