I am curious because when i owned a ps3 and played skyrim the amount of lag made me want to put my head in the oven on gas mark 9... I also played it on an i7 desktop, not sure about the model but the graphics appeared better and the lag free gameplay was a shock if i am honest as i expected a gaming console to be lag free well offline anyway...

Im not going to do a spec (hopefully Shadow Boxer, Idleman, Jamesfreddie. Honosuseri, RJC, olivier renault etc will do it)

But to get the ball rolling,

• Budget?
• Tower unit only?
• OS?
• Monitor/keyboard+mouse?

Are any components currently available on overclockers "PS3 equivalent".

I would have thought that everything sold new now was far more powerful seeing as the RSX is based around the 7x graphics card architecture.

It's not as simple as saying that a PC equivalent to a PS3 will run Skyrim well. PC versions are built for far more advanced hardware, so essentially the PS3 reference is completely null and void.

You just want a good gaming machine for Skyrim.

Once again, what's your budget and do you need everything?

depends on your take on 'equivalent'. technology or performance. although the technology is 'very old' now, the performance is only 'old' due to the tighter coding they can do, as everyone has the same hardware. i would say a ps3 equivalent (performance) would be about a GTX 450 for the same choppy experience.

Doesn't the ps3 have an interesting amount of cores? Or was that something else.

*edit* I was thinking about the cell broadband engine. I remember reading ages ago about it being something that isn't used to full potential as games companies cant really be arsed to code for it properly. Or something g along those lines.
