I have Flight Sim X. could never get it smooth. was thinking of installing it on my newer system that uses i7, 5970 + 5870. don't think this game supports xfire? what's with this shader mods mate ? does this give better performance then. mine used to stutter when panning left to right up and down
Do you have a link to that shader mod please
What pc setup you got ? and what mods are you using.
Any tips on what you have done to make it look nicer? and what ingame settings you usedif i remember, i couldn't get v.sync to work on my old ati card. i was also thinking of getting the trackir 5.

Ok, here goes...
[MY SYSTEM SPEC]
My spec is i5@4Ghz, 4GB RAM, ATI5850, 27" screen, Win7 x64
After installing I had real problems. Installing some addons helped a bit. You should look at:
REX2 - textures
GEX - ground texture
UTX - roads/railways/etc
FS Genesis - terrain mesh
[SHADER MODEL 3.0]
http://www.venetubo.com/SM3_current.zip
You will need to read the instructions in that file for more info. Don't use the d3d.dll or the enbseries (just copy the folder)
Then you will need to add entries to the fsx.cfg file to allow the shader mod. Don't forget to increment the shader version each time you want to rebuilt the shader model cache.
[VSYNC FIX FOR ATI CARDS]
In [GRAPHICS] add this:
ForceFullScreenVSync=1
That will enable your full screen mode vSync.
[FSX.CFG TWEAKS]
For other tweaks then read this thread!
http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=281538
I use bufferpools, shader mod, affinitymask, and highmexfix mods.
[CATALYST SETTINGS]
You will need to experiment with Catalyst settings too. I use:
4xAA (wide tent)
16xAF
vSync - on unless app says
Everything else high
Super sampling AA
Hope this helps - there is plenty to read on those links.
Feel free to get in touch if you need help. You should be able to run without any issues with a spec like yours.
