Okay, So I turned against my last topic as many of my friends saying it was no good really, or I was paying too much for what it really was.

So I've decided to let you all have a shot at choosing my specs. Remember, £2000 budget give or take a few hundred.

What I need from this computer:

  • Future Proof
  • Maxxed out settings on all games new/old/coming soon (e.g Rome 2 Total War, ARMA 3, Battlefield 4)
  • Silent - if at all possible (Please dont take this into huge consideration, I sleep with a fish tank in my room thats really damn loud, so some computer noise wont be a problem haha)
  • Fast and reliable system that wont die in a few months

EXTRA(S) (A further £300 +/- budget ontop of my original budget)
  • Overclocking on parts such as proccesor
  • New Screen ( keen on the BenQ XL2420T 24 inch Widescreen LED Multimedia Monitor, suggest a better one if you can!)

PLEASE NOTE:

  • An O/S is not needed in this spec as I already have a copy of Win7 just lying here.

Okay, so theres what I think you need to know, and dont worry too much about trying to see me money, go as close to my budget as you can to give me the best possible system there is available! Good luck!

I can be more sensible and include the peripherals and still not even come close to breaking £2K lol

You really need to find a case you like, I'm quite partial to the Carbide 540. A 750-850W PSU is good enough for dual GPUs. Pick a good mobo that allows SLI/Xfire, might as well have the i7K and then it's just a matter of picking a GPU or GPUs that suit. Everything else falls into place after that really.

Best of luck with the build, I look forward to seeing what you settle on in the end :)

Okay lets narrow it down a bit more;

Wont need peripherals such as keyboard and mouse but could use a headset (Was looking at PC350SE but couldnt find them here on OCuk)

Would like a soundcard

Only 1 Monitor required (rooms too small and only fits in a few things and i just managed 1 monitor :D)

Overclock the processor, and gfx card if at all possible (this should help bump up the price)

On another point, I have heard MSI Gfx cards struggle with games in some aspects (not quite sure but been told to stay clear and stick to ATI/Nvidia). Also, what are the benefits of SLI/Crossfire before i buy two Gfx cards.

Keep them ideas coming, I'll have a look at them all tommrow night in detail as I'm a bit tired to do the work

Soundcard is simple enough to add and won't impact on your budget much.

For a single 1080P panel a good 2GB GPU (~£300) will more than suffice. When I used 3 panels the resolution is much higher as the screens combine so having 3GB of VRAM and dual GPUs made sense. If you want a single panel you can consider a large 1440P panel but these screens can even make top end GPUs (Nvidias 780) "struggle" on Ultra settings.

I used two 670s as frankly that price (this weekend only) is amazing. A 770 is ~£350 and that's a "Super Duper" 680. The 670 is a cutdown 680 but they cut off very little, so to have two 670s for close to the price of a single 770 is pretty impressive.

We've added good coolers to OC the CPU, you can OC the GPUs on their stock coolers. Only way cooling is really going to whack up the price is if you want to do a custom waterloop to cool the CPU and GPUs. The GPUs would need waterblocks bought and fitted plus all the extras to complete the loop which I won't go into now.

I realise it's a fair bit to take in but I'd rather people understand how to balance a build themselves. When the budget is very high then the specs begin to vary massively, it actually makes it harder in a way.

I really look forward to seeing what you can put together yourself in time :D

I managed to blow the lot including the optional :(

We could colour match it with the money the OP is willing to pay.

White case with baby blue/blue lights seemed nice to me!

Rmemeber I want a Soundcard and Monitor if possible! (Also overclocking on the Processor! :p)

just up and about to go to work, when I'm done I'll start checking out all the builds you've all kindly suggested! :)

Quick respec to match your colour choice :D

Okay so looked at all your suggestions and came up with these.

How are these for builds? Which would you choose and why? If anything you'd change what would it be?
On a side note, why cant I get a sound card in the 1st one?
