by the way mickyflinn, the shinobi core comes with NO COOLING FANS. I haven't included an OS but you could reuse this from an old machine. if not I could spec down the GPU, to a gtx 560ti, still a great card, that is amazing when overclocked.

lol im guessing u play a lot totalwar?

Thanks for the replies but the budget has been raised to £900.

Gentlemen choose your weapons...

A Sandybridge-E based system is an enthusiast system , pointless unless your going 3 x gpu to take advantage of the extra lanes in the pci-express.

i went for sandy e because ivy-e will be supported, much more powerful upgrade room. quad channel ram, beasty performer. plus the overclocking potential of the 3820 is great.

* Windowed Shinobi that includes 2 fans.
* GPU offers CUDA support, in the benchmarks you can see that in some games it does beat the more expensive 7950.
* Mobo is SLI capable, PSU is modular and quiet and good for dual GPUs.
* Good 8GB of RAM at an excellent price.
* Very Good SSD at a reasonable size.
* 612S is designed to be quiet. Can mount 2 fans (easy fit brackets are supplied), fans dont use the wire clips and it includes a tube of paste. The Mattterhorn is good for the price but it only has enough wire clips to mount a single fan and the paste is a one use sachet.

Windows 8 is due for release next month. You could drop the OS now and use the windows 8 developers copy for now and then buy an OS later either 7 or 8. Hope this helps, any questions feel free to ask :)

I'm a student and applied for the Samsung cashback scheme for my monitor, although it was too early by accident so will try again soon as it's 30-45 days after purchase :) However onto the point, they didn't ask for any evidence of education :)
