Hi, planning a new build, and though I mainly use my pc for web and watching movies, and use my 360 for gaming, I would like to be able to play crysis when it arrives.

I'm looking for a card for under £100 - should I go ATI or nvidia, and where is the sweet spot value-wise? How well do the 7900 series overclock compared to the x1900 cards - I'm aware the ATI cards make a lot of heat/noise, and don't really want to have to spend more money on an aftermarket GFX cooler....

Plan to have a C2D(prob 6600, but maybe an overclocked 4300/4400 if they drop in price at the end of this month) with an AC freezer 7, 2gb RAM (ballistix 5300), in a Lian Li pc7+.

if you have a 360 then save your cash and don;t buy a gfx card yet. wait for g92 cards to come out then raise this question up again.

if your desperate to sort the pc out now then the only card under 100 quid is a x1950pro, could also get a 8600gt for 65 quid and save some more cash.

if i had a 360, i would not spend money on a pc upgrade at this very moment.

where? I'm in the same boat and I'm prob,. gonna upgrade during august, I might just wait till the 8800GTS' are cheaper though...

Yeah, thing is the machine I'm using now is dying and isn't adequate to run lots of apps at once anyhow (lots of mozilla, emule, bitorrent etc) and I figure I'll need to get a GPU as the motherboard I want to get (DS3/DS3R) doesn't have onboard gfx...

but if you got a 360 then whats the rush to buy a new gfx card now? wait till the new games have been released and see whats available to buy then.

Yeah but as I said I want to play crysis, and that's coming in sept, right? The next round of GFX cards won't of come out by then so I'm guessing the price of current models won't have dropped by then, so what's the point in waiting if I want to play crysis when it comes out?

well, why buy the card now? why not wait till september? gfx cards will always be dropping in price. just like all pc hardware. its under 2 months away till september comes and your not guaranteed a crysis release then even. it could be delayed or something.

but like i said if your desperate to buy a card right now to play a game that should be comming out in september then you may as well get a card.

if your that desperate to play crysis im sure your gonna want to play it in dx10 so you get the whole of crysis with all its glory. so best to get a dx10 card.
