Looking to replace my ageing Hitachi 200GB HDD(Not sure of the model) I ran HD Tach and it showed the following:

The computer is mainly used for gaming so performance is more important than size, so basically im wanting an Hard drive thats faster than the one I've got for as cheap as possible. 320GB is ok for size but if a 500GB performs better than it might be worth the extra money.

Cheers, ben

Samsung F1 334 single platter - if you can find one.
WD 320GB single platter - be aware that they use the same version number on the 2x160GB platter as they do on the 1x320GB platter unit.
Western Digital Caviar SE16 320GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (WD3200AAKS)http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-130-WD&groupid=701&catid=14&subcat=768

The 640GB version of the above is the Western Digital Caviar SE16 640GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (WD6400AAKS)

Wow, they snuck that one out very quietly :) No wonder the 250Gb single platter was on TWO last week. Would be very interested to see what happens with these and to compare them to the Samsung ones.

ben, i'd def get the 640 drive, i'm selling my raptors soon and getting one of them instead

sweet :)

when i get back from holiday, i'm going to do a temporary move to a 320gb drive (instead of 145gb raptor raid :( ) whilst i'm selling my raptors :)
