Ok so the time has come .

myX2 2003 80gb Maxtor sata drives need changing.

i am currently running them in raid .

But i think my new drive will run faster on its own so im not bothered about raid
agian i dont need anything over 500gb as well. so what you think ?

WD 640Gb 6400AAKS, Seagate 320Gb 7200.11 or a Samsung 320Gb F1 (if you can find one). There is a single platter 320Gb WD AAKS but the access times aren't great compared to its 640Gb sibling.

How old is the board which these will be connected to? If it's only capable of SATA150 then skip the Samsung - it needs a software patch to force the interface speed and you can only apply the patch on a machine which supports SATA300.

You've got SATA300 support there so they'll all work, just pick the one that suits your budget.

To be honest none of my Maxtor drives have let me down.
