Spec me a Home Cine PLEASE

I'd personally stick to coaxial, it's cheaper and more robust cable. It's basically the same cable as component cable (750hm coaxial) so if you've used component in the past, you've got three coaxial cables right there.

How is it sounding?

Dare I say so far that I can't tell much of a difference over my previous setup :o

To be fair though I'm really still in the setting up stage e.g. it was only yesterday that I got all the cables that I need and spent most of last night tidying up the cabling. I've also yet to unleash a DVD on it so I'm only going by how Sky is sounding, I'm pretty sure there's plenty of tinkering to be done with the sub as well....

As requested earlier though here are obligatory unboxing pics taken on the shoddy iPhone camera by a very back photographist :p

Before the frantic unboxing took place a look at the packaging (as boxes go they're not the most attractive are they)

A little idea of just how big the sub is.....

Before we continue, I might not of got anything in terms of cables with the speakers but I did get two pairs of these lovely gloves :p

Nice touch with the bags that the speakers come in....

And once un-bagged viola....

Hey tom. Hope you are happy with em, Looks like i made a good recommendation.

look bloody gorgeous. A finish like that on speakers for that price isnt something you find every day.

Once your setup is complete and in place exact i bet it sounds fantastic

Got any tips on how to get the most out of my set up Hedge? Like I said to be honest so far I can't say I can tell that much difference between this and my old setup

best tip i can give you is to sign up at the Avforums and see what they can say.

make a nicely thought out post and i almost guarantee you will get some very helpful replies from people full of knowledge :)

Upped all those pics and no replies from Kamakazie :(

:)
Been damn busy. Cheers for the pics though, the finish really is top notch. The only thing i don't like about the look is the point at the bottom of the dust cover but even then they still look great.

No idea why you don't find much improvement over your old setup. They are some quality components for the money (or even considerably more).
Make sure you feed it good sources. None of that low bit rate MP3 tat. Even a DD or DTS movie track should sound fantastic.

Ok so I went and bought a third Optical cable yesterday to use for both my PS3 and Xbox 360, now It works fine with the 360 but with the PS3 I'm getting nothing

Any ideas people? I've checked out the PS3's menu and played about with the sound settings and nothing doing there either. So why's the same cable in the same output on my amp working fine with the 360 but not the PS3?

Almost a year on and I'm not happy with my AV receiver so am on the look out for a replacement

I'm seriously leaning towards the Pioneer SC-LX81 (to match my Kuro) however I love the Naim products, do they do an alternative? Has to do sound via HDMI by the way :p

That's a nice choice. I really liked the Pioneer amp that I had. There's some nice Yamaha ones in that price range that are worth looking at too.

Go get a demo of some though cos that's a lot to spend on an amp.

If you want a Naim amp then get a stereo one and use the unity gain option to connect it to your AV amp. This will allow you to use the Naim amp for your CD player and any other stereo source (as it will power the front 2 speakers) and when you swith to AV on the Naim amp your AV amp will essentially be a preamp and the Naim a power amp for the front 2 channels.

Or if you have the cash use an Naim AV2 Processor with a stereo Naim amp and a an extra power amp such as the NAP175. Unfortunately none of the Naim amps offer HDMI, though the n-Vi does have DVI.

What is it your not happy about with the CA amp you have at the mo? What is it that attracts you to Naim?

Well if you read through this thread you'll see that speaker wise I went for the Quad lites, not just on recommendation on here but also on the avforums however I just don't think that they're that spectacular so I'm thinking it's my amp that's letting them down.

Couple that with it beginning to do some really weird things such as not responding to commands (mainly trying to switch it on) and sporadically switching itself off immediately after being switched on. I've also never liked the remote, it's very tacky looking and feeling. Obviously I could take it back and get it fixed/replaced but like I said I've never been entirely happy with it and it's doesn't do sound via HDMI so I'd really prefer just to cut my losses and buy a new one

any reason for not going for an AMP which will do HD audio?

Was that aimed at me? Because that's exactly what I want to do! And believe that the Pioneer does do this

Going from CA -> Naim with those speakers is crazy imo. You would be much better off getting a better set of speakers (or at least front 3) and an amp as well for the amount the Naim stuff will set you back.

To be honest Naim probably isn't a viable option given A- the price and B- the fact that they dont really do an alternative for what I want

I just like the look of their stuff :p
