Buying myself a SilverStone LC17 htpc case. Main purpose of this htpc is to upscale dvds.

Required:

CPU / MOBO / RAM / PSU (quiet)

budget of £600.

thanks

I'd personally go for the MSI K8NGM2-FID 6150 motherboard instead (if you can get your hands on one)

2GB is probably overkill - 1GB should be plenty

And a seasonic S12 or Antec Neo He will be quieter than the akasa

If you want to trim the budget an X2 3800+ won't be a lot slower, but is a lot cheaper

thanks for the replies.

The LC17 is big enough to allow for standard atx, so theres no need to go micro-atx.

I was thinking of going the 3800+ route and using the extra cash to get 2 spinpoint hdds for possible dvd storage.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+ (Socket 939) - OEM (CP-152-AM)
£191.47
Asus A8N-E nForce4 Ultra (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard (MB-088-AS)
£70.44
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC3200 Value Dual Channel Kit CAS3 (GE2GB3200BDC) (MY-046-GL)
£105.69
Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940) (FG-000-AR)
£15.22
Seasonic S12 500W Silent ATX2.0 Power Supply (CA-001-SS)
£84.54
Samsung SpinPoint P SP2514N 250GB ATA-133 8MB Cache - OEM (HD-020-SA)
£62.22 x2 = £124.44

Total = £591.80

Going for Seasonic psu as i'm striving for a quiet as possible htpc.

You are forgetting a graphics card with the last spec. The gigabyte and MSI boards mentioned earlier have intergrated graphics that are decent enugh for htpc needs hence the choice of matx boards.
