Hey everyone,

I'm in the market for a uni-leaving present for a friend doing a Natural Sciences course at Durham (a place I hope to be next year!).

He's quite the hive of witty observations, pointless knowledge and devestating remarks, so anything like this (maybe a quotes book?) that has at least a mild sciencey theme and that you'd recommend I'd love to hear about.

Of course, it doesn't have to be sold for the particular purpose of amusement. Any particularly good Richard Dawkins books for instance might be worth a shot.

Thanks to anyone who can help out :)

Peter.

There are a couple of books that consist of readers questions from New Science magazine or something, I think the first one is called "Why don't penguins feet freeze?" or something like that.

And they answer various quirky science questions.

I wouldn't say that we really sciency, more new age nut jobby.

They are making the film at the moment with George Cluney.

I like Jon Ronson a lot, but I keep wanting to call him Ron Jonson every time I say his name.

True, but thought it was worth a mention all the same :)

A lot of info in 'the book of useless information' is actually quite sciency and fun. Espeically the science section.
