Hi,

I'm looking for a jacket that is: Waterproof, lightweight, can go over a light hoodie or something if needs be, not for arctic weather only
(I want to be able to wear it as much as possible (perhaps even get away with wearing it inside sometimes).
Basically a jacket that'll keep me warm and dry, and somewhat fashionable, on your typical British day.

I've been looking at softshells, but I'm just wondering if they will be sufficient enough to keep me dry in a rain shower (nothing torrential)?

A few that I have been eyeing up are:
The North Face Men's Super Zephyrus Hoodie
The North Face Men's Cipher Hybrid Hoodie
and
The North Face Men's Redpoint Optimus Jacket

I wouldn't be willing to go above £130, and for that price I do expect a very good jacket.

Any help/recommendations will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Why would you you want to wear any jacket other than a suit, sports jacket or blazer in doors

Are you a ***** chav? Do you plan to hide things you've blagged in it? :p

I mean like a shopping centre or something. And I have looked at Rab jackets etc, but atm the only ones I've found that I like are North Face. I'd be open to recommendations of any jackets regardless of the make.

I like SuperDry jackets. Comfy, pretty lightweight and look smart enough to wear indoors.. Probably.

North face stuff is ok. If you want something waterproof and lightweight maybe look at the stretch diad. It's a little bit out of your price range but it's still very good. Ellis Brigham may still have it on sale. The soft shells would be fine for drizzle, but if it was for any longer i would suggest going for waterproof.

I had a Superdry jacket a few years ago, they've been worn to death around here so I don't really want another one.

The stretch diad jacket looks cool but I'd like something a bit heavier, it looks like a shower jacket to me. I'll have a look around the Ellis Brigham website as well, cheers.

I was looking at some Tacticool (velcro on shoulders for callsign patches etc) jackets, Arc'teryx, TAD, Helikon etc. Although I'm not in the armed forces or anything at the minute and suspect I'd look like a mug/wannabe/poser wearing a jacket like that around.

The Stretch Diad is really light, which I think is a plus, as I hate heavy jackets. It's hyvent which has a hydrostatic rating of 17,500, so it's pretty much impossible to get wet in. Brands like Arc'teryx and stuff are really good, but be prepared to break the bank to get one.
