hi

in need of a keyboard and mouse for my pc im using it mainly for gaming but dont want anything to expensive , not sure if i shoud get wireless or not?

cheers

what's your budget?
I would recommend logitech G15 for keyboard - wired and logitech G5 wired for mouse or Logitech G7 wireless

Possibly the best keyboard ever:

Just perfect - buttons feel great. I think they're about five quid or something.

Mouse?

Logitech MX 518. Fantastic mouse.

Wouldn't bother with wireless...especially if you're in to your gaming; you won't like it.

in my opinion of course! :)

I'd get a saitek eclipse II and a razr copperhead or diamondback ideally for gaming. Though that's probably too much paper than most would like to part with.

Don't waste your money on wireless, for the sake of two cables you can save loads of batteries.
I've always thought wired was more responsive anyway.

Get a cheap keyboard and spend the rest on a good quality gaming mouse like a razr diamondback or something.

Ive had nothing but bother with wireless in the past. Its crap TBH. Always go wired now. I have a G5 Mouse which i love.

Got 1 of those Dell's on my bro's comp, its pap...... imo..... though a friend loves them,.... he's now a converted Ergo user... ;)

I'd still choose a comfort curve over the dell..... (about a tenner), bit more then the dell, as nice as it is (compared to other cheapo's) its not anything compared to a real keyboard....

why not try the razer tarantula keyboard. It is a dream to work with and with all the programable keys its is just simply brilliant.

plus with cool features such as usb ports, speaker/mic input it is just simply the best keyboard I have ever owned.

Now I have only had it a day or so but it just oozes quality everything is layed out just right and with optional config keys this will be used far more often compared to my zboard which i unfortunately never got on with.

As for mouse I have had the logitec mx1000 for a few years now and wouldn't have any other mouse for my home pc it is just simply brilliant for my needs.

My favourite keyboards are the plain black Cherry keyboard , and the current Apple keyboard. Both are great, no fannying around with tons of extra buttons, just great key feel and high quality. Both will last a very long time and feel great to type on.

I use an MX1000 at the moment and it's the nicest mouse I've used, I'll stick with it for a very long time. I find Logitech mice in general are all very good.

If that's what you're after I will double my recommendation for the Cherry. It's less than £15, and really is a very high quality bit of kit. It has no media keys or any extra keys at all, but it's wonderful to type on and I'm confident it will last longer than I will. It's already outlasted about three computers and looks and feels as new as when I got it.

would an apple pro keyboard work on my pc if i was using vista?

cheers

I should think so, it works on XP. You're missing a print screen key and the rest of those three, but there's a little hack/driver thing you can get to restore them, it uses the F14, F15 and F16 keys on the apple keyboard. I don't know if that's out for Vista yet though. I've not used Vista, I bought a Mac recently and haven't touched my PC since :D I used to use the Apple keyboard on XP and it worked great though. A couple of the keys are mismarked for windows users too, notably the ` and \ are the wrong way round, as are @ and ".

Those are great keyboards too, but they do pick up crap like nobody's business. I drink, eat and smoke at my keyboard and it does look a bit mingy up close. Main thing is the transparent 'tub' the keys sit in, the crap all falls to the bottom and mounts up along the front edge of the tray and it's not all that attractive. No worries if you're clean though, it might just be because I'm a tramp.

just one thing

im also after a basic 2.0 speaker system

must be fairly cheap max £30 , and not to big just so i can hear sound when playing my games not to worried about quality ?

cheers
