Looking to replace my dying Saitek Eclipse II and Razer Diamondback 3G(unless razer decide to reply to my emails).

I'm currently torn between these 3 keyboards:

Razer Arctosa

Keysonic KSK-8001UEL

Skydigital nKeyboard

Looking at spending around £35. The keyboard will be used for gaming and media controls are a must. Other than that I'm open to suggestions.

And for the mouse, again price must be around £35

Currently looking at Steelseries Kinzu but everywhere seems to be out of stock at the minute.

A note for mouse suggestions, I need the mouse to be Ambidextrously designed and not "bulky" so that rules out most if not all Logitechs.

Now over to you guys to help me decide :)

Add the Sidewinder X4 to that list of keyboards to consider.

Mouse? er dunno. Aren't there some Razer ambidextrous ones?

MX518

Would suggest sidewinder x6 if you want a few extra bits more than the x4. It can be got for £35 (inc shipping) if you look around the usual suspects.

Thats another one added to the keyboard choices or possibly the x6. :p

I'm not a fan of the MX518 it doesn't feel comfortable for me, much prefer a lower profile mouse like a lot of razer mice but with my diamondback 3g getting faults after 16 months I'm a bit put off with razers.

I would buy the Kinzu as it seems to be everything I need, only review downside seems to be about the UPE feet wearing down fast (hopefully wont be a problem as have a boogiebug Aim.B on the way soon) and the fact that I cant find it for sale at a reasonable price at the minute

I have the X6 and love it, so if you can get it for your budget it's a good choice. It's such a personal preference thing though - I'd suggest you attempt to try some out in the flesh if you're near a good shop.

Are you actually a lefty, or do you just prefer the ambidextrous designs? Er, not that that helps me suggest anything. I love my X8 but it's quite big and bulky - like holding a ball compared to some little mice - so sounds like you'd hate it.

Is the MX518 decent? I see some scathing remarks directed towards it. Is that simply because its the ford focus of mice (meaning every other car appears to be one because its not a particularly bad car and reasonably good value)

I get the impression it's just a solid performer and exceptional value for money. Proof that lasers and 100000000dpi are really unnecessary gimmicks for most people. In fact the 518 is probably perfectly fit for purpose for 99% of gamers. Personally I think my X8 is awesome and worth the extra for tilt wheel, wireless, better looks and better button layout, but that still can't take away from how good the 518 is for its price.

How about the Sidewinder x6? As mentioned though it might be worth popping into your local PC world or Currys to try it out, and then come back here online to buy it :D

Looks like a trip to that planetary computer shop is in order to try some out.

I am a lefty but can use either hand when using a computer, hence the ambidextrous design (+ I do personally prefer the look of them).

I'm going to try a few bigger mice while I'm out, who knows I might end up liking the shape

im a finger tip grip kinda guy so i use small mice :)
just bought the Kinzu, it's got a good shape and feel (very similar to the Microsoft Wheel Optical 1.1a) but the mouse skates are horrible plastic. It wont glide about and has lots of friction - I've replaced the skates with Corepad Skatez and it's really brought the mouse to life! (I use hard plastic mouse mats like Razer Destructor and SS 9HD)
Another thing to note with the Kinzu is that it has angle snapping prediction - it creates perfectly straight horizontal/vertical lines. It's kinda annoying (especially for a high sensitivity/finger grip player).
Oh and the DPI settings come predefined at 400 / 800 / 1600 / 3200 which limits customisation.
I also have a Razer Abyuss, ambidextrous design, small, great mouse skates, no angle snapping... the only reason i stopped using it was because mouse1 button collapsed and no longer functions ;/
