Hi guys,

Well my laptop drive seems to be on the way out after a year and halves worth of punishment so I am looking for a replacement.

I currently have a little Hitachi travelstar 4200rpm 2mb cache jobbie so I am looking for something a bit quicker to match the rest of my laptops reasonable spec (Dothan 1.6, 9700pro etc).

I like the look of these:

They appear to be quicker than any of the other laptop HD's available on OCUK but I am not an expert when it comes to HD's.

I take it the faster the spindle speed the faster the drive should be?! (7200rpm apposed to 5400rpm) and the larger the data cache the better?!

I am looking at the 60gb model for £70 qhich seems to be good value of rmoney considering the spec although I want to check I am making the right choice.

Cheers

TBH, in my opinion the 7200s are faster, but consume more power, are louder and hotter. Serviced a few laptops with dead Hitachis, mostly older school drives though, reliability wise i'd go for Seagate or Samsung.. speedwise i'd prolly get what you're getting and i haven't had reliability issues with the few i've installed so far.
