Spec me a....... Lawnmower?

I have a flymo branded petrol mower which is just basically a husqvarna mower with an orange paint job. It's got a Briggs and Stratton engine which never seems to miss a beat. I'd never ever buy an electric mower again.

Would a Briggs and Stratton, enging be better than a mountfield as the Flymo brand isn't important, its the engine right?

Depends where you are, but you could look for a specialist garden/lawnmower firm in your area, go along and actually have a look at them, see how easy you think they are to start, make sure the pace is right etc. I know a couple of places in Warrington from when i used to use mowers for work etc but sure Yell could point you in the right direction.

For me it would be Briggs & Stratton over mountfield, but that's only personal preference, though i would be more inclined to pair it with Atco mowing gear (i've used them and trust them) but that would push the budget up. Other than that, as mentioned above, I used to use Honda rotarys for the industrial estate work or pre-cutting fine lawns before using the cylinder for a final cut.

Most Mountfields use Briggs and Stratton engines I think. As do a lot of other brands. There is currently an offer of 2 for 1 at some B&Q's were you can get a self propelled rotary and a strimmer for £180. They are both Homelite but as far as I can see they are identical to Mountfield mowers and very like Ryobi strimmers. Certainly more than enough equipment for the average householder.

Yeah, some mountfield mowers use B&S, some have Honda engines and some have propriety mountfield engines.
