I have a 14 year old brother who it appears is into some pretty hardcore porn. Both going to websites, downloading via limewire etc. In addition to this he is receiving quite a lot of images from other girls (im assuming under the age too) via msn which worries me as it amounts to child pornography.

Also webcam sessions, and various chat logs which is getting ridiculous.

a lot of the software available isnt great, and that wont stop the msn stuff.

So.... My plan is to create a letter from our isp, stating they have been monitoring the traffic from our house, noticed a lot of contraband, and as a first warning prior to involving the police we have one more chance.

Anyone wanna add some words of wisdom for this letter, or indeed create one?

Talk to him. My older brother seemed somewhat impressed when I showed my collection of legitimate gentlemen's photography and amateur video.

Tell him of the consequences of such actions.

In before someone posts TTIUWP

Why dont you just talk to him about it and be a good brother.

When I was 14 I had quite a few chatroom and MSN encounters.

This may also make the letter more epic.

Recently our router broke, and we where sent a new one.

Im thinking something along the lines of...

"Over a period of 3 months we have been monitoring the web traffic from your address, and have deemed it necesary to investigate further. On 12/02/2009 your default router was suspended, which was then replaced with a tracker router. This equipment was developed to indentify specific sources of the contraband and the source/destination machines.

The machine MAC:55:4E:... has been identified as a source of pornagraphic images, coming from p2p clients, chat clients and web browsers."....

that or impose blocks on content via the router.

That doesnt block the limewire stuff, or the webcam sessions. Or the files received over msn.

Without this thread getting out of hand, i dont think its appropriate for a 14 yr old boy to be downloading videos using search fields such as "rape, gangbang" etc.

Pictures received involve fingers, and girls. Under age. A filter wont stop that.

I wasn't getting it at all until you said that. I still don't think the letter is a good idea (actually I think it is a very bad one). Be straightforward about it and talk to him. If the girls are the same age has him it's not really as a dodgy as it could appear (don't go looking at them yourself!)

Try to stear him away from rape porn, that's just wrong. Is he otherwise a good kid? Or is he a mentalist? in which case deal with that.

Unfortunately when I was 14 online porn wasn't available and we had to make do with the printing press, at least we weren't having to get our rocks off to cave art. I know at 14 anything we got our hands on was fairly vanilla.

Talk to him; scare tactics don't work. If anything you're just shirking responsibility.

He needs to understand that pr0ns are part of male culture, but that maybe he should be going easy on it.

er sorry, whats the problem? :p

i was watching porn from probably age 11

plus if hes gettin pics from girls he knows from msn... good lad

p.s how come you aren't as cool as him?

wasnt there a post before where someone got brought up on peadophile charges from pics on his mobile they were same age like 12-14. so its a bit dodgy, why dont you teach him the ways

or give him a slap

oooo or take a picture of him pleasing himself and blackmail him (joke)
