Spec me a machine for use with virtualisation

I'm in need of a machine capable of running at least 8 instances of vmware / virtual pc. Main host OS will be vista and the instances will be XP. I'm after something that will be:

- Stable
- Decent performance
- Quiet with reasonably low power usage
- Budget £700 max not including monitor and software

Not too fussed about graphics as I wont be using it for gaming.

Any suggestions?

This might be suitable, quad core, lots of Ram and solid sundry components. There is still room in the budget to get either more hard drive space or a better graphics card if necessary.

I put in 8gb of Ram already although perhaps it isn't that clear without looking closely at the prices. I don't know too much about virtual machines but what I do know suggests that the more Ram and resources in general the better.
 
Same question, £1400 budget.
The bigger the better really. (dual CPU possible? 2TB?)

ram 8x 2gig ecc ~ £600

i expect around £1800 for a complete hi-end system with 16gigs of ram, possible to upgrade 64gigs later.
