Okay so me and my g/f are going to do away with getting one another birthday presents this year and just pool our money together to get a marine fish tank for our lounge problem being I myself have never had fish full stop let alone marine fish so have no idea what we should be looking at getting

I've seen a nice corner unit at pets at home and the tank and stand comes to just over £100 and although it says that it's suitable for salt water fish when you go on the manafactures website (aqua one) it's not very forthcoming with info

We've also been to the local swallows and seen a nano unit with clown fish in it (which is in truth the only fish we want) and with stand comes to about £150 ish

So question is what's the best nano tank for marine fish in and around £200 (ideally including stand) to house a couple of nemo's, some live rock, maybe 1 or 2 bits of corral and maybe 2 or 3 other fish?

I would suggest that you get some books on marines as if you have never kept
fish previously you should not jump in at this level as it probably will end in
disaster.

Take a look at ultimatereef . com, best place in the Uk for info.
( ive been well into marines for years)

Any suggestions on tanks if you've into them for a while? :)

Personally I'd say that you want to keep some freshwater tropical fish first before you attempt Marine fish, there is a lot to learn and it's easy to go wrong.

I've been keeping tropical fish for a few years now and I still don't think I'm ready for Marines and its even more of an expenditure.

The other issue is that you will likely end up wanting a bigger tank, so it's best to get the biggest you can afford and fit to begin with. In some ways, it's also actually easier to balance a larger aquarium than a smaller one, as things go wrong quicker in a small one.

£100 isn't very much for a tank.
You've also go to figure in all the other devices, both mechanical and organic that you need for a marine aquarium too.
