Hey everyone.

I am looking for an upgrade on my current basic keyboard.

I play a lot of games on my PC now (most noteably BF4) and I want to upgrade to a gaming keyboard. I am hearing many good things about mechanical keyboards now also.

What would people recommend for about £100 or under?

How about one of the new Ducky's with the PBT caps? You get the choice of colour across the four main switch types with the nice feel of the PBT keycaps and a very solid keyboard.

I went with the Razar Blackwidow Ultimate - definitely not recommended if you need to be quiet as it is very loud.

Interestingly enough however, the other half has not complained once about it and I have now had it for about 2 months.

Feels good in games, but if I had my time over again I would definately go for something with softer, and quieter keys as its quite a clakety monster.

Yeah the Razer looks great but I have heard it is noisy. Also I find the ducky keyboards a little too colourful and childlike in appearance :D

I know, I'm hard to please

Filco's are a little over, but they are excellent and you really could murder someone with it and not damage it.

Only thing i'd do, is when it gets to the end of the years warranty, get a spare cable for if/when it goes. :p

I was just looking at the Ducky keyboards.

I didn't realise you could get them in just black, i thought they all had different key colours!

So this means Black ducky keyboards are an option, I am ready to purchase but want to make sure it's right for me. So still open to suggestions :)

Haha, nothing wrong with being colourful! ;)

They are very solid keyboards and seem to be highly recommended!

No nothing wrong with it, they look nice but I love a black look :D

How noisy are Ducky keyboards? The razer keyboards look good but they are quite noisy from what I hear...

All mechanical keyboards will make more noise than a membrane keyboard, but the Razer ones you've seen will use MX Blue, which make a click when pressed. They're considered the noisiest, but as long as you're not mashing the keys, all switches are reasonably quiet.

^^ Don't get blues for gaming - if you purely play FPS games then blacks are a good option otherwise reds are a better option for general gaming.

Using the new ozone strike pro here, red switches. Good for gaming and the backlighting has some nice options.

Ozone Strike or Ducky Shine 3 would be top of my list atm both solid gaming keyboards if you don't need lots of extra features.
