Do you already have one of these for the BluRay?

YOUR BASKET
1 x Akasa Slimline Optical SATA Cable (AK-CB050) £2.99

I imagine that's the right connector. Can't find the relevant info for that particular player.
Balls, you know what I hadn't even thought about cables! Will the SSD and BD not come with them at all?

The motherboard will have all of the cables you need, though that Akasa SATA cable will probably be needed

Yup. The motherboard will come with 2-4 normal SATA cables for SSD/HDD. The PSU will have the power Satas and molex. But you will need the right slimline-type connector the slimline BluRay.

There is no info on whether the BluRay will come with it. Could contact OcUK and ask them.

The weekly offers won't change till Wednesday so you have tomorrow to find out and still snap up the offers.

Great thanks for the heads-up everyone. I saw about the 'this week only' offers, Wednesday is an odd time for them to change? I've sent a webnote to OcUK, hopefully everything is still in stock by the time I get a reply :p

Currently having a bit of a panic over whether or not that Antec PSU is compatible with Haswell CPUs? I can't find anything out online?

if your PSU is a quality unit, but does not meet Haswell specs, does that mean you need a new PSU to upgrade to Haswell? No, you do not. As mentioned earlier, you can disable the low-power states (or your mobo manufacturer will disable them by default), and you will be fine. - See more at: http://www.logicalincrements.com/haswell/#sthash.oX36O5nG.dpuf

So it's just a matter of going into BIOS and disabling C6/C7 state.

And also good idea to disable "sleep" in Windows and don't use "hibernate".

The "Haswell compatibility" just means that some PSUs are capable of handling these very low power states (extra low with Haswell's) and some aren't.

The name "Haswell compatible" is slightly misleading, as it only means compatible with these very low power states.

Hmn, sounds a bit dangerous to me! This is what OcUK said from my webnote, agrees with you:

Thank you for your webnote.
While this PSU should be fine for powering a Haswell system, it may not fully support all the low power states that HAswell brings. We would suggest contacting Antec who will be able to confirm if it offers full support.
Perhaps I would be better off/safer with the Superflower Golden Green 350W? Mind you I'm struggling to see for sure if that is compatible anyway! Sleep modes don't interest me on a desktop mind, is that all it is, essentially?

Need to order tonight! :(

I have a "Haswell compatible" PSU and I disable C state and sleep anyway, and never use hibernate. For what it's worth. :)

Look, it's a useful feature for laptops, to save as much power as possible and extend the time between each recharge. But for PC's, the whole "Haswell compatible PSU" was mostly a gimmick, to make people feel like they'd be better off getting a new PSU, imo. Bit harsh maybe, but the way they worded it indicates that to me.

OcUK had a special section of "Haswell compatible" PSUs for a time, when the Haswells came out, but they removed it before too long. So that should tell you something about how much of a problem they think it is, i.e. none at all. They are being fully honest with you about your PSU being fine except possibly not supporting those low power states.

Thanks. You're saying exactly what I've just been finding out in my own research. Always good to hear it a few times though! :p Why sleep/hibernate a desktop PC when you're not using it. I'm assuming with the specs I have built above the system won't exactly take long to boot!

I'm also struggling to find info on that player!

I sent a webnote earlier today and was told I needed this:

Not sure, though?

EDIT: Another store has it listed as
Samsung SN-506BB 6x Slim Internal Blu-ray Writer with SATA - OEM
And both there and OcUK list it as having S-ATA connection. So I could take that to mean it has a 'normal' SATA connection?

Big bump!

I got halfway through putting this puppy together last night and unfortunately as suspected I do not have the right cable for the ODD. I went with a 'slimline' SATA cable as recommended by an OcUK bod, which although correct is merely the data cable. I have no way of powering the ODD because it has (I believe) a miniSATA power connection?

So, apologies for ignoring you Danny75, but I guess I need one of these? I've just traipsed up and down Tottenham Court Rd on my lunch break but to no avail :(

There seems to be a massive lack of info on both that cable, and my drive! I guess people don't often put slimline drives in desktop PCs.. To make it more clear here is a pic of the said connections at the back of the drive. Data SATA goes in the right hand side. My PSU has molex and standard SATA power cables!

Thanks!
