Spec me a mobile that has:

3MP camera or greater
Qwerty keyboard or touchscreen.
Has wi-fi and 3G.

But it has to be for £100 (maybe a few pounds on top), on the bay.

Lets see what you guys come up with.

Thanks.

If I buy a phone from the bay (popular auction website) it is 2 months old.

If it goes wrong 6 months in, what do I do, because I won't have the receipt from purchase.

Nope, I do too.

iPhone £505
Vs
Mac mini £499
Vs
Windows laptop £350

Not really comparable.

You are paying a big sum for the technology, all the technology in that £350 windows laptop is quite outdated.

The mac mini isn't a fair price either, because it needs some sort of screen buying, and some sort of input device.

For £100 a San Fran or maybe a second hand LG Optimus 7? It can be had for ~£180 new, so it could be had for around £100.

Just checked the LG optimus 7, there are hardly any on sale. :(

just bought one for £77 in vgc therefore under your budget and some left for topping up.

I have also sold my v6 maxx razr for £26 which sweetens the deal. £51 total cost.

You should never pay new prices on ebay because of this risk, most phones do not go wrong, therefore look for reliability but also only pay what you are comfortable with. 70% of new list price seems reasonable.

Differs from manufacturer to manufacturer, I know that Samsung won't honor their warranties if ownership has changed hands through eBay but Apple care can be transferred.

What is vgc???

Am I the only one that thinks phones are expensive

...perhaps, but - with higher spec models - you can still turn in a pretty respectable resale value and quite easily via the multitude of phone-buying-sites.....example, my nearly 2yr old Desire seems to still be worth circa. £140 to these places :D

Oh :D

Might just get it from the orange store and pay the extra £20/£30 at least I get a 1 year warranty.

I'm just cheap :D

My v6 maxx cost me nothing overall except top up charges. The SF may do the same over a year.

I also wanted something I could unlock and change the rom. Paying for a brand new phone to do this which may invalidate warranty anyway seemed over the top a bit.

Looks fine? Might even get lucky and end up with an OLED screen if he/she has owned it for a while (hence upgrade).
