Iam currently using a usb modem supplied by my ISP but iam looking to get a combined modem/router instead that must work with vista 64 , although have no idea what to look for, any models i should take alook at?

Your better off getting an ethernet connected router - then you don't need to worry about operating system drivers for the router. You just have to make sure that your pc's network card is supported by 64.

Is this for ADSL or Cable?

I recommend the Thompson Speedtouch modems. They come in wireless / ethernet flavours (not sure which you'd need) rock solid performance even on a long ADSL line, and they're very easy to set up and maintain :)

Vista compatibility shouldn't be an issue because modem/routers are plug and play and configured through a web based interface (no drivers needed)

actually i have just looked through the speedtouch website , and have noticed they have released a update for the 330 for vista , so i guess it is 64 compatible

The good thing with having a router is that you don't need any drivers as you do for a modem. As you will be using either a physical ethernet connection or a wireless connection.

So you will use either your network card or your wireless card in your PC and as long as they have the correct drivers installed your surfing :)
