Spec Me A Monster!

Lian Li PC343B all day and every day.

Put it this way, I saw a MountainMods case 5 days a week for a year and a half and they look terrible, the powder coating is orange peeled and cloudy and nothing like the finish I have on the inside of my case which is powder coated.

Brushed Aluminium on the outside of the PC343B wins hands down for looks and they also fit together really nicely. Lian Li panels are cut precisely to slot into the chassis which involves intricate cutting and folding of the aluminium, MountainMods decided to go the cow boy route and basically bolt the sides on using thumb screws.

So if you want to spend a load of money on a few pieces of poorly powder coated, laser cut pieces of steel riveted together to form a box then go for it.

That's just my opinion of course, as you can tell, my PC is part of my furniture so I need it to look good. Others obviously just want something that's water cooling compatible in every way possible that doesn't need to look good.

hehe a man who shares my opinion.. like you said it basically is a couple of pieces of ally thats been lasered and coated and then sold for a horrific price... me and a couple of other guys are designing a case similar to them but ours definatly WON'T have all those awefull fan holes on the front! ;)

I've got a PC343 downstairs at the moment (the one anodised green) and tbh I was suprised at it's build quality for the price. The side panels are comparable to the lower end models like the PC-7, nothin like the solid side panels on the V2000!

You don't know how much I have to press the back button and not post, especially when over at XtremeSystems, I can see why people buy them but they're not worth the money. I would say Lian Li being a lot bigger, putting out far more cases and being in the far east will have cheaper production costs but still...

Yeah, I had a V1200, and the side panels were heavy thick things, but I think the V series has always been the flagship range like Coolermasters old ATCS (oh how I miss those days apart from the 80mm fans). The PC343B is a weird one, designed by Microplex and doesn't seem to fit anywhere in a particular range then again I suppose the PC bit does put it in the same family as the PC7 et al.

If I get chance later I'll try get a photo comparing the V2100 side panels to the PC343 side panels. The PC343 is like tin foil compared to the V2100 ones.

I can see why people would be drawn to the MM cases as there isn't really any modding needed, but that still doesn't explain the preumium on them, espeically not when you compare the intricacy of a Lian Li case to a UFO.

EDIT: in answer to OP, if you fancy a little modding a V2000 or V2100 would be suitable for your needs.

The new MM HYPER MODULARITY case is great with so many options for setting up your watercooling.

i'm getting a PC-343B myself and putting a couple of Rads in the front. I'm working on a new deal to get the whole accessory range in stock
