spec me a ......mouse

The MX revolution seems like it would fit the bill im just wondering how you can lock the scrollwheel so it doesnt enter flywheel mode, i need the clicks to stay there and id like to know what you have to do to switch between the two

also still would like to know where you think i can get that mouse for £40-50

You can stop the scrollwheel changing modes if you want - you can either control it via the software, or manually change it by pressing the whole wheel down.

They're more expensive these days it would appear, but can be had for a shade over £50. OcUK might stock them, have a look at their site. The place where I bought mine is a competitor so I'm afraid I won't link to them on these forums.

Well i managed to find out what mouse was in the picture i first used and that looks like a decent mouse also

choices so far seem to be

logitech performance mx
logitech mx620
razer mamba

somethings i need to know 1st before i go and grab any of these is if anyone can tell me

logitech performance MX
it mentions a stealth button which is used by pressing down the ball of your thumb joint.
Is this button silent of is it just like any other button where you can tell when your clicking it.

logitech performance mx + logitech mx 620
On my previous mouse the scroll wheel didnt work to well
when using the scroll the clicks werent in time with the actual scrolling
i would roll the wheel down to the point on the page i wanted but the scroll wheel hadnt clciked into place yet and so when i let go of the wheel if would move back to the previous click and so the page would go back 1 "scroll"

Im wondering if being able to loosen the clicks would mean that this happens on any of logitech's mice with the hyperscroll function
as trying to scroll up or down a page and then have it suddenly jump back in the oposite direction because the scroll clicks arent quite in sync with what happens on the screen is quite irritating

razer mamba
Because the maba doesnt have sidescrolling (which is what i usually map my push to talk to)
is it possible to change the on the fly dpi buttons into generic mouse buttons which i can use for push to talk on VoIP software such as ventrilo.

To answer your questions on the Performance MX:

The stealth button is the carbon coloured thumb rest bit on the left of the mouse, theres a regular sounding click when this button is pressed. The 'stealth' feature is more to do with the fact is doesn't look like a button than noise.

In regards to the hyperscroll function I haven't had any problems similar to the ones you described, if you were to start a hyperscroll and switch it to regular mid scroll (or just stop the wheel spinning) everything I have used so far syncs perfectly. Also, not sure if you know this but the hyperscroll feature doesn't have any clicks per se so I shouldn't imagine you having any problems with it in that respect.

My only criticism of the mouse itself is that is doesn't have a dock as I would have preferred this over the charging cable feature.

i wouldnt even use the hyperscroll i would just keep it as a regular click scroll, my concern was just that because the scroll wheel has a mechanical feature to change it it might cause it to be oversensetive like my last mouse.

about the stealh button does it require much more force to click than any of the other buttons?

Takes about as much force as a regular button press would do so imo. Might take a bit of getting used to at first but once you've got it down, its as easy as anything. I do find myself missing my mouse when I'm at work and I have to stop myself from trying to click buttons that aren't there!

One thing that might be worth mentioning is that there are a few reports of people's middle click not functioning as expected. For example, mine will always make a click noise when pressed but will not register as an input unless I click it slightly to the right. There is a longish thread on the Logitech forums with similar reports, but I'm not sure if mine is truely faulty or if the contour of the mouse is throwing off my directional input. It was initially an issue, but I've been using it for a week now and its become second nature!
