I'm looking a off the shelf NAS drive (no more then £100 is possible) that is also compact. Recommendations please?

I was a looking a Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex 1TB, will it be able to cope if for example there are several people accessing/transferring files at the same time?

How many drives should it take, and do you want it to come with hard drives already fitted? A really good answer for a drive-less is the HP microserver, usually available new for roughly £100 and periodically available second hand for a bit less.

A cheap NAS will be crap at transfer speeds. Cos it's cheap. If lots of people access it at once, it'll be really crap at transfer speeds.

The WD my book is cheap, a pretty box and reasonably capable in terms of performance. But it's bad compared to the HP. My "my book" is sitting empty in a box after donating its internal drive to a HP box.
