To be honest I've never used it. Most popular Linux NAS distro but I never bothered trying it
Just happy using home server on a mitx atom build and its been fine
Will the network hard drive still be accessible even if the pc is in hibernation? or what power state apart from ON would the hard drive still be accessible?
Thanks guys.
Hibernation won't work as to share the drive you need your OS up and running. Best power option would be to never sleep or hibernate otherwise you will lose access, but power off screen after 1 minute as you don't need it running
Ok thanks guys,
I have tried that guide mtb but it doesn't work. Do you have any other ideas? as to how i can get FreeNas or anything that will enable me to setup the harddrive to be accessible on the network?
mtb at the moment i have a hard drive inside my pc, mapped on the network through win 7.
However at the moment i am currently working through this http://pcplus.techradar.com/node/3191/
Which seems to be exactly what i need?
However i am now considering just doing what i am doing for now and if my hard drives become full then i will invest in a proper NAS.
Thanks for all your help though guys.
