Hi

I have switch connected to my eero mesh network, it’s a dumb TP Link 5 port I think.

Basically need one with more ports, about 8-10.

Will have 1gb fttp soon and going to hard wire more devices where possible.

Doesn’t need to be anything special just a simple/dumb switch.

Are the TP link ones still a good choice the one I have has been perfect.

I’ve seen a few 8 port ones that look identical, ones a tplink, the other Netgear? Any preference here.
Thanks

Either TPLink or Netgear ones with the metal chassis would be my choice.

You'll generally struggle with 10 ports, so no harm in keeping your 5 port and just daisy chaining it off a new 8 port if you need a couple of extra devices (particularly if they aren't speed sensitive e.g. tv's, amplifiers etc)

I used one of the TP-LINK 8 port switch TL-SG608E and a 16 port one TL-SG116 for some time. Had absolutely no problems with them. Surprisingly good value. Ticked all the boxes.

Cheers, I will stick with TP Link.

This might sound stupid, but I take it these switches pass through any type of connection.
I’m switching to a PPPoE connection soon, connecting my eero mesh directly to the ONT modem.

The router deals with PPPoE, the switch is irrelevant.

Just to echo the above, TPLink metal enclosure switches are stupidly reliable, I can’t say the same for Netgear and as they die, it’s usually a TPLink that replaces them now. That said, I do have Chinese 2.5/10Gb switches haven’t put a foot wrong for me at this stage and I will have put Pb’s over them, and they are stupidly good value.
