Spec me a new camera

I have been using a lumix tz7 for a couple of years, but the lens seems to have failed on it, it won't zoom in and out properly and keeps getting stuck.

I don't particularly want another panasonic, I have seen the Powershot SX range and the ixus500/1100 range (budget is max £300)

I would like some zoom, upto 10x minimum, also the camera has to be pocket friendly, I guess the maximum size would be lumix tz sized.

Any alternative suggestions?

Olympus XZ-1, can be had nearer £200 these days.

Although it came out a year ago, I don't know if there are anything better for the money, at least when i bought it back last September it was the choice for me.

I agree with Raymond, thats a fantastic compact. Although its only 4x zoom I would prefer the quality of that kind of lens over a superzoom that goes to a ridiculous focal length. If you want a compact with a long zoom on it I'd probably stick with panasonic but I'd go with quality.

Other compacts in that class are -

Canon 95, S100

Panasonic LX5, LX7
 
Well I have narrowed it down to S100 or the XZ-1, both are the same price :P

Anyone used both extensively, the only thing I can see between the two is size difference, video difference and number of features.

The S100 that I tried out seemed to be a bit laggy, when selecting modes etc which really bugged me.
