Hey folks. I'm in the market for a new bike and am looking for a road bike with:

  • Full carbon
  • Internally routed cables
  • Disc brakes
  • Red/Black/White Colour Scheme
  • 105 groupset or better (Ultegra preferred)

I really love the Ghost Nivolet Tour Disc LC 3 which I've found on MHW for ~£1605.27 which is considerably less than the £2199 from Chain Reaction Cycles.

What are your thoughts? Know anything better/alternative to this one? Any help appreciated! :)

It's the same frame as the lapierre sensium so probably worth a check that they're isn't an equivalent lapierre for a better price, though they depends which name commands more brand tax.

To be honest that's a very nice bike for the price. There are a few things close but nothing I can think of as substantially better.

Apparently they won't be in stock till mid March. How is your Flyxii frame treating you? I took a look at their road bike disc options as an alternative (which is looking more attractive now)

Really great to be honest. I have zero complaints about the frame in 6500 miles of riding.

It's not thru-axle though so if that matters to you it's obviously not appropriate. I've not seen any Chinese thru-axle frames with mudguard mounts though.

What are you using in terms of wheels?

Some random ones from a Chinese seller on Aliexpress. I hunted around until I found one that had okay feedback and would confirm that they would honour their warranty whilst only requiring pictures/video proof (rather than requiring me to send back the wheels).

They're 50mm carbon rim with aero spokes and Nova.tech (not the OcUK competitor, silly swear filter) hubs. They lasted a little over 8000 miles before the front rim developed a fault. I think I'm fudged in regards to warranty as the seller has gone out of business but given the battering I've given them and the price I paid I'm still reasonably happy with the purchase.

Was it a fault with the braking surface? I hear that happens quite often.

Disc brakes so nope :)

There's a bit of the rim under the rim tape where a 'flake' of carbon has broken off. I wouldn't even have noticed bar the fact that it is rattling around inside the rim and annoying the hell out of me whenever I go below 10mph.

pxliquid25 (only stock liquidation items yup)

Yeah..my bike is the flyxii frame with ultegra, hydraulic discs, 23mm wide 50mm deep carbon rims and 25mm tyres.

I've heard some people with Chinese carbon disc frames have issues mounting the disc brakes where they have to file down the mounts. Did you have any issues? Do you have the Shimano RS685 Road Disc Brake?

I do indeed have those though I bought them from Bike24 as they were cheaper.

I also read about those issues and was prepared to file down my mounts but had no such problems. Based on what I've seen of the mounts (at least on my frame - flx-fr-602) I don't think it would've been a big deal even if I did have to file things down. A 5 minute job at worst.
