So after my trusty 36gb raptor has officially crapped out on me, i'm looking for a new fast boot drive.

I will be keeping windows and some programs on there, but all my music/films/important files on my 500gb storage drive.

The raptor was good and i can notice a difference above this 7200.7 i'm using now, but is there quicker out there? or maybe similar speed but without the pricetag? Size of the drive isn't an issue, i'm used to using no more than 25-30gb for the main drive but if the speed of the drive increase with the space on the drive, then i can live with a larger drive if it suits the speed.

It also might be worth mentioning i do a lot of music production work. Loading thousands of samples at times and large audio files.

Advice appreciated guys, cheers.

Are there any good main drives without the price tag of the velociraptor? Something to match my busted raptor or close would be preferred

Nothing except another Raptor or an SSD will match your Raptor's access times. But almost any recent 7200rpm disk will have much faster transfer rates, since you're looking small then I'd suggest the 320GB Samsung F1.
