That spec shoots itself in the foot getting a 22" screen then a 9600GT which would not fulfill high detail gaming at that Samsung's max res (1680x1050).

--
£700 for a high spec tower is ok, but if you're going to get a new 22"+ good monitor then £700 will be slightly too tight for high graphics gaming.

This is what i propose:

Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5200 "LGA775 Core 2" 2.50GHz (800FSB)
Asus P5Q Pro Intel P45 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX (2x2GB)
Asus ATI Radeon HD 4850 1024MB GDDR3
Samsung SpinPoint F1 320GB SATA-II 16MB Cache
Asus DRW-20B1ST 20x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer Rewriter
Coolermaster Real Power 520w Modular Power Supply
Antec 300 Three Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-Bit - OEM
Samsung SM-2233BW Cream 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor

Total inc.VAT: £814.07

So about £100 over budget but this will last do exactly what you want, play all the latest games at a good res and good detail.

If this really is too much you could

Use your current optical drive (saves £22.99)
Buying a 512mb version of the HD4850 (saves up to £26) -- [I went for the 1Gb version to account for the higher resolution]
Use stock CPU cooler (saves £20.69)*

*I wouldn't recommend this though as using that cpu cooler and mobo you will be able to get a good overclock out of the E5200 which will significantly improve your gaming experience.

Hope i've been some help :)

doesnt have to be played at the max res.!

that card would do until the funds are back and go for something a bit more prolific.!

Duhhh :)

wouldnt like to do it the other way around by paying for an awesome gfx card and crap monitor and have to upgrade the monitor later on.?

Don't need the 4850 1gb at 1680x1050, I think Kennysevenfold's spec is ok tbh. 9600GT is a good card for the price and only just behind an 8800GT which at that resolution will give good results. Fair enough some settings will have to be set slightly lower in the most recent games but will still be more than playable and look good.

What about this
