Spec me a Nvidia Graphics Card Please

I would not be so quick to point the finger at the graphics card. If you have any friends that could lend you there card to try out that's what i would do. I had similar problems way back when i had a 1900xtx. I thought it was the card but i upgraded my whole pc and the card worked fine for a good time after. I never got to the bottom of the problem but i feel sometimes people just think it's Gpu related due to errors referring to Gpu. Sometimes it can be another part of the system leading to these kind of errors. Don't get me wrong it could well be a failing gpu but its not always the case.

Unfortunately none of my friends play PC games so I can't ask to borrow one.

I've seen a BFG Nivida GeForce GTX 285 OCX 1GB video card which I can get quite cheap but am woindering if it's a step back compared to my current card?
Thanks

It's a step up from what you have in fps terms. It was nvidia's fastest gpu and a true gaming card so should be a good bit better. It's only dx10 though but should still be faster by a decent margin than what you have.

I would say put the extra few quid towards a GTX 660, my nephew has the Asus one and it is a solid card but won't max out all games, although they will certainly look better and play better than what you have.

Well I ended up buying the BFG Nivida GeForce GTX 285 OCX 1GB card for £20 and everything so far has been great.

I've not had a single BSOD or random shutdown so far - touch wood. I'm overall very happy with it and have been playing Far Cry 3 on moderate settings.

Does anyone have a recommendation as to which card (Nvidia ONLY - never again will I touch ATI / AMD) would allow me to breeze through games such as Far Cry 3 and Metro 2033 at the absolute highest settings?

Thanks
