I specced this up for someone in another thread- take off the speakers, keyboard and mouse and it comes in well under budget :)

Nice spec, though I would say it would be better to get 2 250Gb HHDs, only a couple of quid more and you get much more versatility (ie a RAID configuration depending on what you need).

Also, though that Lian-Li case looks the dogs, I'm not convinced it's worth spaffing £175 on irrespective of budget.

Perhaps a dual monitor setup would be nice too, though it depends what you need from the system. If it's going to be a media type PC, perhaps 1 large monitor would be best, but for most other uses (especially desktop work) dual monitors would be a big bonus.

Ahh sorry- the Lian-Li case and the case fans were something the person I originally did the spec for wanted specifically but of course these can be changed to suit your tastes. Personally, I would never consider spending that much on a case but that's just me being a cheapskate :o

Nuttie, do you need a massive HDD? 400GB sounds cool but if you're like me you'll probably not use more than 50GB so if you're not planning on using the space it's just basically an E-penis-pump if you get my meaning.

Hard drives are comparitvley cheap these days though so it makes sense to have more space than you need ;)

it does and they are pretty cheap but for someone like me my 160GB HDD is much more than I'll ever use I think, 115GBs free and I've got everything I need on here. However if you like downloading videos/music and whatnot the space is filled up a lot quicker.

Still, if he's not gonna use the space that £50 could be either saved or spent on some other component.

The spec. trigegr gave are ok

Into the other reply's:
if your a downloader, go for 400 gigs at least, it will fill up in a approx. 2 months if u take anything less.
If your not a real gamer or downloader: 160 gigs is all you need ;)

, also why a floppy, its all replaced with bootable cd's. a rewritable cd can do anythign a floppy can and 400 times more data fits on it.
But if you realyl wnat one, try soem advert sites for a cheap one for 5 quid or less... , whatever the case unelss u destroy bios u'll never need floppy's, they're pretty obselete...

Even a USB memory stick would be more worthwhile than a floppy drive, not many new computers have floppies now.

probs just put a card ready where the floppy should be, as for the hardrives i do download a lot and game when i get the chance, iam wanting a really fast hd, like one of those wd raptors, what u think
