No worries
You said he doesnt need a gfx card, from that it wasnt clear if he already has one, or wont be doing anything graphically intensive
The above build uses onboard gfx, if however he is going to game and already has a gfx card then the small changes you could make to tweak a bit more out of it would be to change the cpu to the 760 and the mobo to a P55 ratehr than H55 such as the Asus P7P55D-E
Not a great difference but a bit more, roughly same cost, just no onboard gfx

If you are going for an i5 system then you really want to use an i5 700 series instead of the i5 600 series. The 600s are hyperthreaded dual cores with an integrated graphics core, the 700 series are true quad cores. In almost all tasks the 700 series is faster and only £10 more expensive.

As for a new system, if he needs everything apart from " keyboard/mouse/monitor/graphics card", would you be able to tell us the graphics card he is using? This will allow us to specify a PSU that will power the system.

Edit: Seeing 95thrifles 2nd post the choice of the i5 650 makes sense if there is no graphics card being used, so fair play. However I read it as he already has a GPU, monitor etc., hence my i5 760 recommendation.

The plan for now is to keep his 8800GT and when he's saved a bit more he can upgrade later, he does not intend playing the latest releases as of yet. He's current using a Pentium D 2.8 GHz and very slow ram so that's the main problem as of now. So I think just to be safe he can go for a corsair 650W or equivalent when he chooses to upgrade? Doubt he will be using SLI/Crossfire.
