My only advice is don't spend a fortune on one. We spent over £300 on a travel system, used it for about three months. It is still as new but I can't even give it away.
imported it from America cheaper than you could get it in UK. its reversible seating means that he can be either forward facing or facing back at you. My lad has been happy from newborn to his current 15months with his seating arrangement in there.
Very easy to push around and will handle some good terrain
Have a look at the Icandy Cherry travel system. The Maxi Cosi car seat fit's perfectly onto it and it comes with free brackets. Nice and light but sturdy so your Mrs can lift it on her own without breaking her back, and theres loads of space under the pram for shopping/bottles
The guy in the shop told us he cant get enough of them.......
Stuff buying new and get on the auction sites. Far, far cheaper for something someone daft paid £300+ 6 months or so ago. We paid £50 for a £350 system, and all it needed was the fabric parts chucking in the washing machine.
We buy all our baby stuff second hand from car boots and the like, they're simply not in the clothes long enough to warrant buying new if you ask me
Yes, we did use a seperate care seat, It didnt really disturb him that much, but it would depend on the baby tbh. My little lad is quite a happy and peaceful chap so he transferred easily between the two, also I prefer a true car seat as they are designed for that specific purpose and dont have to rely on being fitted into two differant items (ie the pushchair and the car).
