Spec Me a Project to Learn a Programming Language

After agreeing with a lot of people's thoughts on here that the best way to learn a language is to dive straight in, I want OcUK to spec me a project which will get me to learn a new programming language.

I'm open to any programming language, as long as it's relevant in the current market - I already know PHP & SQL.

Write a media cataloguer in C#/SQL

Should catalog:

DVDs
CDs
mp3s
avi/divx

Should be searchable and integrate with installed media players once the desired (electronic) media item has been found. Should automatically look up album art, etc from a provider of your choice (cddb, etc).

Plenty of scope to get the class system for that completely wrong and have to re-write it a few times!
