Hi all,

My current PSU is on its last legs and making some funny noises, so it's about time for a new one.

650w-850w range should be more than enough. Modular would be nice, too. What's half decent these days? The machine is predominately for gaming & media playback.

Cheers!

as said above...but i would go for 650w to be on the safe side if you get a better gfx etc.
corsair rm 650 gold FULLY modular

just won one from here and i cant seem to make the fan spin! very quiet and doesnt run hot!
or if you prefer seasonic http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-017-SS&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=2383 this weeks offer but not FULLY modular as you can see in the pic

Not much point buying the Corsair HX650 over the Seasonic G-650, as they have the same internal design.
The HX650 has the disadvantage of only coming with two PCIe cables. Whereas the G-650 comes with four. If you don't need a PSU with four PCIe cables then you don't need a 650W PSU, a 450-550W PSU will be more than enough.

The advantage that the HX650 has is that it has a semi fanless mode, which the G-650 doesn't have. And a 7 year warranty.

just a heads up, think of it what you want...but i had a xfx 850w non modular made by seasonic and it has lasted 1 year (the ball bearings in the fan are wearing out), if i want seasonic ever again i will buy a seasonic psu not a rebadged one
happy with the rm650 at the moment made by CWT
