Hi,
I need a PSU for my build. Im looking at about 850W and so far its between the Corsair AX850 or the XFX 850w XXX Silver.
Which one do you reckon?

Imo both these Psu's are great, and both have great reviews.
I opted for the xfx 850 xxx silver myself and have absolutely no regrets,a great psu,
maybe it comes down to aesthetics....which one do ya like the look of better?

ps for detailed reviews head over to jonnyguru.com to help you decide.

The XFX is cheaper, both are very good.
Only other difference is Silver/Gold efficiency, but whether that's really worth the £40 extra is up to you!

Is the perfomance differential between silver and gold £40 quids worth do you know?

The only other difference is the size, the AX850 is smaller 160mm (L) compared to the 170mm (L) for the XFX. Important if you have limited space as I have.

As for the semi-modular XFX, you should be using all the fixed cables so it's a non-issue. I'd prefer my AX850 to be like that.

Yeh i didnt look at it like that, you got to use those cables anyway.

Just ordered an AX750 myself.

Semi modular isn't a bad thing, it makes sense really, all the cables that are always required are fully connected ones

Fully modular would make the job easier yes, but I can sort of see the point of semi-modular. Not exactly the best for braiding the cables though.
