Looking to purchase a racing wheel to get back into racing sims. I've only ever had an Xbone wheel with the force feedback but didn't like it at all. I'm looking a wheel that will let me race and drift. So anyone out there who is big into these would appreciate you're help!

Also appart from a wheel, what racing sims and drifting sims should I look at purchasing? So far the 2 people keep mentioning are L.F.S and Iracing

Thanks!

I like my G27 racing wheel, well built and good force feedback, for top end wheels look at Fanatec.

For sims, IRacing is considered the best and I agree, though it is paid for via a monthly sub.

G27 Looks solid, if i'm looking at Fanatec wheels is there any particular one? Also I know force feedback is great for racing but what about drifting?

There are not any Sims i know of for drifting.

Arcade games such as Grid and Grid 2 have drifting racing which is fun, you can turn the driving aids off to make it more realistic but it is still very much an arcade racer.

The only sort of drifting I used to do was on LiveForSpeed, wouldn't suggest it's is the drifting game. Hard to think what actually is...

I think people just make the game modes like track layout then you tune the cars to drift. Not sure as i'm new to PC, also think i've narrowed it down to the G27, Thrustmaster t500 RS and Fanatec CSR. Some are pretty pricey! but then again some is just a wheel and some have the full bundle with pedals and shifter.

Yeah I think that's pretty much the case to be honest, it's finding a nice sim type of game and seeing how you get along with the drifting aspect, I'd imagine in some games it just won't happen. Like rFactor for instance, found that hard work.

It depends how much you want to spend or are comfortable with spending, if I could do it again I'd probably go Fanatec as I've never heard anything bad and they seem to have it all clued up as such.

Fanatec is probably the best but don't really want to spend around £500 as they sell everything separate :(

Deciding between Logitech G27 or Thrustmaster t500 RS looks good

Think I would prefer the Thrustmaster after seeing a couple of reviews I like the shape of the wheel better. Only problem is it doesn't come with a shifter but apparently you can use a Logitech G27 shifter with it :D

That's good if you can, I was looking at them just as a package but if you can use one thing with another, brilliant.

Question, can you actually get the shifter separately?

I've used a G27 for years and can thoroughly recommend it... had the cheaper CSR wheel but sold it fairly quickly as the build quality was nowhere near worth the extra money imo.

If i was buying again I would probably go for the Thrustmaster as I hear good things about it.

EDIT: PCars is good fun but I don't think you can get access to the BETA anymore... rFactor 2 has awesome physics but is expensive and still very BETA. Iracing is too expensive! F1 2013 is not half bad but Assetto Corsa is the one to watch. These are my sims of choice at the moment ;)

Yeah G27 is the most popular to among people and is the easiest to pickup. But i've heard great things about the Thrustmaster also and tbh its not that much more expensive. The thing they catch you out on is they only sell it with the wheel and pedals, they sell the shifter separate which bumps the price up another £100 which is a shame.

Asseto Corsa looks good, also how much is rFactor & Iracing? Are they monthly subscriptions?

Rf2 was £60 I think for lifetime membership... I racing is subscription only + you have to buy the cars and tracks!

Me neither, would much prefer to just buy the game and that's it. Also never knew you had to buy cars and tracks for Iracing!A racing game where you have to buy cars and tracks...

Or is it like DLC? you get a basic package of cars and tracks then the rest you have to buy?
