As above, preferably as cheap as possible :p

It's mainly for streaming media from my PC to PS3 using PS3 Media Server. I would like to add some resilience to hard drive failure.

Been looking at things like the Drobo or the Edgestore DAS. Or maybe even just using the onboard RAID on my motherboard, if that will do the job just as well, but I would prefer some kind of hot swappable caddy for the drives.

Anyone have experience of the above and able to comment?

Thanks!

Hi Faffer,
Any real reason you're after using raid5 and hot-swap caddies? If a disk does fail then it's no major hardship to switch-off, open up the case to swap a disk, and restore from a backup.
No experience of the Drobo or Edgestor DAS you mention, I'm afraid, but using your existing PC sounds a lot cheaper.

Just for convenience really, as the inside of my case is getting a bit tight and i have to redo the cable management everytime I move or change the drives.

Currently edging towards one of the Edgestore DAS things, as a SATA drive enclosure will cost almost as much.
