Spec me a replacement for my Evo X

Something 911 flavoured?

I'm no expert on them though, you'd need Housey to advise on what your budget would get you.

[Edit] Used Audi R8? Would be the V8 though.

If it was me i would consider these two as well. My neighbor just changed his 911 of an R8

If you like your Evo is there any reason why you can't keep it and and just get a 2nd car, A fair few regret selling their Evo's and end up going back.

You need to ask yourself what do you want in a car and if that's everything that the Evo has plus more it has to be a GTR they are blisteringly quick and if your coming from a SST model you won't miss the lack of a stick.

C63 and M3 you will gain comfort, quality and a nice sounding v8 - quicker on a straight than a standard X but you will loose AWD AYC which is a huge advantage in the winter in the wet road driving.

A 911 will be more fun to drive great for track days and probably turn you in to a much better driver at a cost of loosing a fair amount of practicality that your Evo currently gives you.

In your shoes if I couldn't bag a GTR I would either keep the evo and buy a 2nd motor or perhaps take a test drive in the new RS4.

Some nice suggestions there guys, thanks... I'm going to take a tour on the weekend and check out some of the options.

Madeddie: Your right, I will certainly miss the X, I've been getting new Evo's since 2003 and they tick all the boxes for me especially in the winter with the roads in Pembrokeshire. The GTR would be my natural choice if it was not for the price but I still think I'd need a testdrive, I know a few people who have gone to one and say they are amazing on good roads but for tight twisty roads they miss the Evo.

Could you not bite the bullet and just get and older 2nd hand GTR? Yeah it's older than you'd like but the upgrade from the Evo X is still a huge upgrade.

Jase have you had a chance to drive some GTR at all ?? If not i can guarantee that you will want one after test drive :)

£55K would get you into a very nice Gen 2 997 C2S with the right bits. My father has a Gen 2 997 C4S that he bought 3 years back from an OPC and even then he paid I think £55k so you pretty much have your pick at that level. Go drive one, it may not feel as lively as your Evo at first but I promise you it is......and then some.

If you want something raw you might find an early 997 GT3 and frankly that would be a huge move up from the Evo, quite a bit sharper and quicker and would not lose much if anything in 3 years as long as you dont add massive miles. When you grow up you realise that Evo's and Scooby's though really good cars are not on the same level as a 911. If you metric is the back few pages of Evo or Top Gear then fine, but if you want to drive and enjoy it and want to test yourself a 911 is where you need to be. Rice is never as nice as Pork....EVER.

I've not had the chance to drive a GTR, maybe I'm, afraid of doing so as I will want one :) I am planning on going for a drive to Cardiff on the weekend where there is a better selection of garages, it'll be a pain having to travel that sort of distance for servicing etc but I've done it before when that was the nearest Ralliart dealer.

I now what you're say Housey and again I hope to call into a dealer on the weekend.

I've never had this much trouble deciding on a car. When I got my first EVO I went to a car show in Birmingham and I at the time I wanted to check out the BMW M3 and a Porsche Boxter. It was then that I saw a Yellow Evo VII and loved it so I placed an order straight away, ever since I've just bought a new version each time... maybe it is a time for a change anyway!
