There doesn't seem to be much in the way of providers better for the same price as Plusnet or BT Infinity at the minute.

So I don't want to use the kit that comes from each ISP and its been a long while since I looked at this part of the networking market so I'm looking for advice on a suitable product.

I'm using ethernet over power, fixed cabling and Wi-Fi so it needs to be able to do all very well.

Sorry moving into my first place so I have ton of things to do and this a minor one that I have little time to research so I'm hoping for advice please :D

Netgear D7000 or D6400.

My D6400 has been rock solid, NEVER has dropped connection itself since the day it was plugged in. No crashes, no need to reset regularly. Its just stable which is far more important IMO that flashy bolton shiney bits like massively claimed wifi speeds, all the colours of the rainbow interface etc.

Wifi distance is pretty good, 5ghz is never gonna be as good as 2.4ghz on any device distance wise but it is better than some AC devices ive seen with external antennas. The USB sharing for general file shares, DLNA, printer sharing etc likewise just works reliably.

DLM does not seem to interfere with it either and in my case no negative change has occurred sine i started using it.

It has a couple of flaws every device does but it does the most important stuff well, better than a HH5, better than a HH3 and Openreach modem combo, faster networking than a Billion 8800. The only thing i dislike about it is the waiting time in the interface it takes to apply some (IP addresses, Wifi naming etc) changes when you initially set it up. I personally would buy another with no hesitation.

Any other recommendations for around £100-150 mark, some of the above ones are available yet and others are just crazy priced!

TP-Link VR900 same basic chipset as the D6400 and D7000 slightly better interface IMO but does not give as much info stat wise about connection.

D7000 is around £160-170
D6400 is around £140
VR900 is around £130

If you want a cheap device and £150 is no longer your budget then a Billion 8800NL for around £65 is probably the best you can get for under £80. Closely folled by the TP-Link W9980 for about the same price but that does not have the better broadcom chipset.

If you want something seriously better than all those its gonna cost you more than £150.
