Ok fed up with BT Home Hub, the thing just keeps crashing.

I need a router that is...

1) Fast
2) Has Multiple Ethernet ports
3) Can use to make calls through the internet (not skype)
4) Doesnt cost the Earth
5) Can handle heavy internet usage (i.e gaming, heavy downloading)

Thankyou

Dont you HAVE to use the supplied hub to make the IP phone calls with? im not aware of 3rd party routers that offer this facility.

Aside from that ive always used netgear routers and foudn them reliable and easy to set up. Some people seem to hate them but i dunno why :p

edit: tell a lie... a quick google found this

I have a 2600G here, donesn't have the VoIP ports but its an excellent router, although not cheap.

PS. They have now been replaced by the 2800 series, which are ADSL2/2+ capable, the modems in the earlier ones are not, somthing to bear in mind if you're paying £150+ on a router and want it to be good for the future :)

Billion and ZyXEL also offer ADSL routers with built in VoIP ports, assuming that BT just use a standard SIP system for their netphone it should be possible to get the settings and put them into any other router, or indeed just a WiFi SIP Phone :)

Had the same problem as you! the hubs useless.

Try a BT voyager v2500, worked well for me! If you harass BT enough you might get one free (50 quid if not) I got mine from a popular online auction site for about a tenner. I'm now using a Bt 2800hgv which works well but may lack some features you want such as upnp.
