Need something to get to work and back next year when I'm lazy and don't jump on the bike. Will be doing 5 miles there, 5 miles back. Not hugely bothered about economy as over that distance it's never going to be the best, but 25+ would be somewhere to aim for I guess. Wouldn't mind a hatch back to get the practicality that the S2000 doesn't give!

Keep thinking that my old mk1 Focus was fine so I've got a mk1 facelift petrol on my mind, 1.6-2.0L depending what's around. Quick clear screen is super handy in the winter as well. Don't really want to spend much more than a grand.

Anything else worth considering?

Plus none of you can slate Chris, when he does these threads he does actually buy a car as well! :)

I think at a grand that's more than a safe bet. Good drive, you know the cars from owning one previously, cheap motoring... sounds good to me :)

Also no lectures on how this won't save me money etc.

I want a car I can drive around and not care about (to an extent). Go to the shops in, pointless short journeys, rear seats down when I've bought something large etc.

Passhat, Mondeo, old Volvo?

Does it really matter? Just get something practical that isn't a total shed.
Seat Toledo V5?

Yeah but then a few months later he sells it.

Just take the S2000. It's not like you have a garage to keep it dry so it would do it good being driven, plus why have a nice car on the drive to buy a crap box ?
