so my ssd isnt performing so well for my workstation, im thinking of going sandy or ivy or bd. if i went sandy whats the best mobo ram and cpu setup i could get atm, want it to be ideally faster than ,y i7 950. tbh i dont think the upgrade is worth hundreds just to get my ssd running well. but if you can spec me a fairly not cheap but decent money build id be grateful. i saw something about a board that was ivy ready hmm. id ideally want 8+ gb ram. i have a feeling the responses are going to tell me the cost to essentially sidegrade does not warrent the need.

could you not just get a SATA 6GB/s PCIe card if thats what your missing?
something like this perhaps:
2x SATA 6GB/s PCIe x1 card
1x eSATA 6GB/s + 1x SATA 6GB/s PCIe x1 card

ive been told theyre marvel and similar just ike my mobo so will perfom the same. getting 370mb read atm so not too bad.
Just stick with the M4, at the end of the day the performance is still excellent, unless you look at benchmarks all day.
Then in a year or two you can upgrade and take advantage of the better speeds.
You'll be hard pressed in day to day running to distinguish between the M4 on the Marvell controller and on the native Intel Sata III

ah, so its not a lack of SATA 6GB/s ports thats the problem then. back to the drawing board
