Need help specing a few things

DDR2 or DDR3?
What board?
What CPU?
What case?

So spec will be -

Motherboard - SPEC ME - Room for 8gb + memory and slots for a dual graphics card and my PCI-E Xonar card
Processor - SPEC ME - Quad or dual core I don't mind overclocking
Case - SPEC MESilverstone Sugo SG01 Evolution?/Silverstone Sugo SG01-F?/Lian-Li PC-V350?
Memory - SPEC ME - 8GB Please
Graphics Card - Using existing 7800GT OC for now
Sound Card - Using existing Asus Xonar D2X full length card
Hard Drive - Using existing 250GB Hitatchi SATA-II and will either buy a 1tb SATA-II or external 1tb
Drives - Using existing 2 x Pioneer 216's
Cooling - SPEC ME Unsure
Power Supply - Hiper Type-R Modular PSU

It will be replacing a opteron cpu running at 3ghz and DFI Lanparty board with 2gb DDR3200.

So want best value for money to be honest.

Thanks,

Andy

well I don't think you have much choice in mobi if you want crossfire. So mobo in my sig. I like the lian looks over the other options but I'm kinds bias I guess. I would ditch that crappy psu as it gets hot in these little cases. Not sure about cooling as I'm under water. I would check the memory compatabilty list for what mobo you choose yet mine isn't listed and runs fine.

Sorry I read your first post saying dual graphics card not dual slot graphics card. I can't say on other boards as from the start I never even looked at a diff mobo.

What is the overclocking like then?

I've got a DFI Lanparty NF4 SLI-DR Ultra at the moment and love its overclocking abilities but i don't think my Xonar D2X will fit in that slot with a graphics card too.

it's the best overclocking matx mobo by far hitting 600fsb. Your sound card PCI? Will fit it easy in my dfi if only running a single graphics card.

It's PCI-E and its huge lol

So would it fit or would it touch my sound card?

Andy

there x8 but PCI-e 2.0 so same as 1.1 x16 really. You won't notice any difference but yea I don't see why you can't just stock gfx in one and sound in the other.

i would go for a Silverstone SG01-F or the Lian-Li PC-V350
as they can both take long gfx cards.

i have a Silverstone SG01 Evo myself and loving it, but i really like the look
of the Lian-Li PC-V350, it seems to have better cooling.

i think any of the 2 cases will do the job.

Def going to go for the V350 now, i love the looks and features.

So what ram then?

I want 8gb

If your not doing video encoding and because the Q6600 is old tech and hot running it's gotta be the E8500 as it's only £5 more than a E8400. The new E0 should get to 4.5ghz. But all depends on your main use, if I was going quad it would atleast be a Q9450 clocked heavy but it's £100 more than a E8500 at least and def not worth it.
