I have to admit it's nice having a E8600 but when a cheaper E8400 gets to close 4.5Ghz I can't say it's worth it. The higher multi though is easier on all the other componants though so if you got the money why not.
depends what your using your rig for. As I only game and use the rig for general usage the fast speed dual is better for me but if your doing video encoding and plan not to upgrade for 2-3 years then the quad is probably better suited.
Well aim for 4Ghz but that's getting a 500fsb which this mobo has known to do it easy iv not been able to get my ram running at 1066mhz or much over 1000mhz. It's probably because Im new to clocking end not fully understanding about all the options. It makes no differnce to me as 1:1 my ram is never going to break 500fsb but with the lower multi quads may be something worth investagating further.
well you can get 1200mhz I think maybe faster. It might be due to running 8Gb that it don't like the high mem speeds but that's something you would have to look into. Best place to go before you buy is club dfi site and ask em
